1. Specification

Once we receive your initial enquiry and understand the basics of your project, we will provide you with more information and, in some cases, a preliminary estimate. If you decide to move forward, we will arrange a call, video call, or, if appropriate, a site visit to discuss your proposed extension in greater detail. During this process, we work closely with you to understand your vision, preferences, requirements, and budget.

Our highly experienced Design Consultants will also assess your current property to evaluate its aesthetics, available space, and potential challenges. We’ll discuss materials, styles, layouts, dimensions, and provide recommendations to help you envision what can be achieved with your project.

2. Design

Next, we will arrange a relaxed, no-pressure meeting to present your options, supported by design visuals where appropriate. During this visit, we’ll take measurements, capture photos of the site, and discuss materials and finishes in greater detail. You’ll also receive a tailored quotation. If you decide to proceed, we’ll schedule another meeting to finalise the design of your chosen glass extension and complete the necessary paperwork.

3. Planning

At this stage, we will introduce you to our specialist building partners and architects who will be working on your project. They will conduct a detailed technical survey of your property and the site for your extension. The architect will then draft plans for your conservatory or glass extension and advise whether planning permission and building consent are required—though this may not always be necessary. If planning permission is needed, they will handle all the paperwork, submit it to the planning authority on your behalf, and keep you informed throughout the process.

With extensive experience in securing planning permission for listed buildings, we can collaborate with the relevant parties to help gain approval for your project. Once the plans are finalised and any necessary permissions are granted, we’ll schedule a start date for building your Room Outside extension.

4. Build

As with any building project, some mess is inevitable. However, our team will work diligently to minimise dust and dirt, ensuring the site remains tidy and secure at the end of each day. For your convenience, the team will use their own portaloo facilities, so they won’t need to access your property.

Once your build is scheduled, we will provide you with a detailed timeline, including working hours and an estimated completion date. Throughout the process, our team will check in with you regularly to ensure everything is progressing smoothly and to your satisfaction.

The build will begin with the removal of any existing structure and the preparation of foundations for your new extension. Upon completion, our cleaning specialists will perform a thorough valet clean, leaving your new glass room sparkling inside and out. We will also inspect the work to ensure it meets our high standards and confirm that you are delighted with your stunning new extension.

With proper care and regular maintenance, your structure is designed to last for decades. To provide you with complete peace of mind, we offer a 30-year structural products guarantee, protecting you against defective materials. This guarantee is independently recognised as one of the best in the industry and is unique to Room Outside. Additionally, we offer a specialist valet clean and maintenance service to help ensure your glass room remains as stunning as the day it was completed.
