Tranquil contemporary orangery extension in a quaint West Sussex garden

Contemporary Orangery - Modern uPVC framed orangery with double doors opening wide to steps down into a Sussex country garden

Our clients in Storrington West Sussex contacted us to look at designing a relaxing space so that they could truly enjoy their garden when they weren’t working in it.  Both are keen gardeners and have worked hard to create an established and mature country garden in the quaint space that they have. They wanted something that looked great and gave them a fresh, contemporary orangery space, but that was low maintenance.

Our clients came to us with some ideas of what they liked and what kind of shape and size of structure they thought they would like.  Our expert designers worked with them to further develop their ideas to ensure they were achieving the best possible space, that gave them the area required to include the furniture they wanted; a luxury 2-seater sofa and wicker armchairs to relax in, while having the space to pass through the middle, out of the double patio doors and down the steps into the garden.

A luxury white uPVC orangery extends the living area out into the beautiful country garden

We designed a spacious white uPVC orangery, which gave our clients the fresh modern look that they were after while being lower maintenance than timber. The white uPVC combined with the raised brick base and dwarf walls also tie in the new glass room to the original home. The space was positioned to the right of the rear of the property to maximise space in the garden and create a flow from the kitchen dinner out into the glass extension and beyond. The inclusion of two sets of double patio doors allows the space to be completely opened up in the summer. The set of doors to the side opening out onto the patio give easy step-free access to the lawn, while the other set of doors open flush to the structure to keep them out of the way and make use of the height of the foundations with stone steps leading straight out onto the lawn. The full lantern roof has decorative finials to the top apex adding the finishing touches to the outside.

The sun filled orangery interior offers a tranquil space to relax in

Inside is a bright, calm and tranquil space in which to relax in the cool summer breeze or curl up with a good book in the winter months. The white uPVC frames are continued inside with magnolia painted walls, white painted woodwork, and a stone ceramic tile to create a light and airy space. The customer’s choice of light coloured, and floral country chic furnishings and accessories make the space and tie it all in with their beautiful country garden.

uPVC Orangery Lantern Roof fitted with temperature control New Generation Glass

The full lantern orangery roof lets in lots of natural light and the specialist New Generation Glass exclusive to use at Room Outside decreases glare and heat, while also increasing heat efficiency when it’s cold to keep the heating costs down and enjoyment of the space at a maximum. The windows are also fully glazed and secure and have a combination of smaller and larger opening windows to allow for ventilation throughout the year. Pelmets around the edge of the space fitted with spotlighting help to create a relaxing atmosphere in the evenings. A truly lovely space to relax, entertain and enjoy the garden in all year round.
